For babies admitted to the NICU, car seat fitting will be done in the unit prior to the infant’s discharge. The car seat will be inspected and fitted properly by the baby’s nurse. Parents and guardians will be educated on how to properly restrain your baby in the car seat and in the vehicle. During a period of observation in a car safety seat, baby will be monitored for any episodes of apnea, bradycardia or oxygen desaturations.
