Circumcision is a surgical procedure performed upon parental request by the obstetrician or pediatrician. Informed parental consent is obtained before the procedure. Circumcision may be contraindicated when there is a family history of bleeding disorders (hemophilia), congenital genito-urinary anomaly (hypospadias) or prematurity (small genitalia). Most common complications are bleeding, infection, improper healing and failure to remove enough of foreskin. http://kidshealth.org/parent/system/surgical/circumcision.html
